EDUCATION

Fort Bend County is home to Texas State Technical College, the University of Houston at Sugar Land and HCC Advanced Manufacturing and Workforce Development Center of Excellence. These institutions of higher education are preparing students to become skilled and thoughtful professionals while meeting the high-tech challenges of today’s global economy with businesses and industry, government agencies, and other educational institutions. They are answering a need from industry in the greater Fort Bend County community.

Fort Bend County is fortunate to have a complex transportation network. The county is ready equipped for the efficient transportation of products and services from Mexico to Canada, from East and West Coast and Gulf Coast ports. These transportation systems make Fort Bend County an ideal hub for the distribution of manufactured products and services.

Fort Bend Future encourages the development of policies, legislation and standards on the local, state and federal level that promote innovation and growth for the technology industry.   Fort Bend Future strives to understand the legislative issues important to our growing tech community.   We have a commitment to advocate on behalf of business in Fort Bend County on local, state and federal issues related to technology.  Key to this effort is building and maintaining strong relationships with our local, state and federal elected officials.

The Biomed industry is one of the largest employers in Fort Bend County, but the employment goes well beyond the county’s four major hospitals. Fort Bend is home to several large biomedical and allied industries. Fort Bend is home to several large biomedical industry leaders, including Mylan Pharmaceuticals, OcuSoft, CooperSurgical, Boccard, Biotics Research, Hope Biosciences, and Velentium and more.

As these businesses grow and invest in Fort Bend County, they will need a highly trained workforce, top -tier research institutions and a business-friendly climate. All of these factors are present in Fort Bend and help make the county a global industry leader in healthcare and biotechnology.
